Xi'an Xianyang International Airport recorded a total of 62,700 aircraft landings and takeoffs, handling 9.36 million passengers and 58,000 metric tons of cargo and mail during the 2026 summer travel rush from July 1 to Aug 31.

Passenger volume and cargo‑mail volume rose by 1.2 percent and 1.6 percent year-on-year, respectively, with passenger volume hitting a new all‑time high.

The airport handled an average of 1,012 flights and 151,000 passengers per day, with daily passenger flow exceeding 150,000 on 37 days (including six days above 160,000).

The airport has increased flight frequencies on major routes, including Harbin, Kunming, and Tianjin, with passenger volumes on routes such as Dalian, Beijing, and Shanghai up more than 10 percent. Multiple passenger‑service facilities have also been put into operation at the airport.

The Shaanxi Inbound Service platform in Terminal 5 was launched, and the airport's commercial zone has added leisure services, including an audio‑visual hall and indoor courts for pickleball, badminton, and billiards.

Faced with heavy passenger flows during the summer travel rush, the airport reconfigured taxi and ride‑hailing pick‑up points at Terminals 2 and 3. At Terminal 3, the walking distance to the taxi stand has been cut from 140 to 30 meters, while the ride-hailing pick-up point has been shortened from 300 to 140 m. Shelter and rest amenities have been added to waiting areas, with physical barriers separating pedestrians and vehicles to mitigate safety risks and improve passengers' experiences.

The airport will further integrate aviation, culture, and tourism, expand cultural‑experience scenarios, and upgrade its service quality, delivering better and more thoughtful travel services for all passengers.
